Legacy
Steam locomotives have left a legacy of practical transportation, and were the predecessors of modern trains which are still in frequent use today. In the context of the Industrial Revolution, steam locomotives helped industrialise the revolution. Without steam locomotives, the Industrial Revolution could not have grown as fast, and the world probably wouldn’t be what it is today.
Trains are still in frequent use today for transporting large loads of things like coal as well as being used to transport people. Trains are still one of the most practical methods of transportation in a lot of situations. They transport people to work in different cities and allow cities to be more interconnected.
